Handicraft

The Department of Handicrafts Ramban is running 07 training centers in the district where training is being imparted to the un-employed youth of the district especially women folk, in different crafts i.e. Crewel, Stapple, Sozni, Carpet and Wheat Straw.

  • The intake capacity of each training centre is 25 candidates/trainees.
  • Stipend worth Rs 700 hundred is being to paid to advance trainees & Rs 500 to Elementary trainees
  • The passed out trainees are being registered with the department as Artisans and are motivated to establish their individual units. The financial assistance in the form of soft loan (Artisan Credit Card and Micro Credit Plan) is also being provided through various banks with interest subsidy of 10%.
  • Moreover, 08 No. of Co-operative Societies are also registered in the District.

Follow Up schemes

  • The trained artisans can start small industrial units individually or a group of artisans can organize themselves into Handicrafts Industrial Co-operative Societies. Organization of artisans into Co-operative societies enables them to own infrastructure at local level and establish links with the markets all across the state. Industrial Co-operative Society (INDUSCOS) wing of the Handicrafts department is the nodal organization which registers the handicraft co-operative societies formed by the artisans.
